Estimated market value:
The Decoration was founded by Grand Duke Ludwig III and was conferred upon Non-Commissioned Officers to denote seniority and long service.
Type I was discontinued following the formation of the German Empire in 1871. It was replaced with Type II, which was only conferred upon Non-Commissioned Officers.
The Type II bars are similar in design to the Prussian Long Service Decorations.
