Physical Description


A diamond-shaped decoration with round edges, constructed of silver. The obverse features the intertwined letters ‘ELE’ on a smooth background, surrounded by a raised decorative rim, and with a crown at the top. The reverse is smooth and features a circular indentation with the marriage date, ‘II. FEBR. 1905’. The decoration is hollow. On a clip hanger and loop for suspension, on a white ribbon with broad red side stripes and a narrow red centre stripe.

History


The Wedding Medal, 1905 was established by Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig to commemorate his marriage to his second wife, Princess Eleonore. It was conferred upon the guests of the wedding ceremony, which included high-ranking court officials, diplomats, Officers, and other influential individuals.
