Physical Description

A pebbled George’s cross with a smooth raised border, constructed of gold. The obverse medallion features the crowned monogram ‘FW I’. The reverse medallion features the Roman numeral XXV. On a loop for suspension, on a purple ribbon with thin golden borders.

History

The Long Service Cross for 25 Years was conferred upon officers who rendered 25 years of meritorious military service. This included officers of the standing army, general staff, cadet corps, Landgendarmerie and adjutants.

Officers of garrison troops and officers in Invalidenhäusern (care facilities for injured officers and soldiers) were not eligible to receive the cross.
