A Mecklenburg-Schwerin Military Merit Cross 1914; 1st Class - First War period issue; In bronze gilt, vaulted, 41mm x 41mm, vertical pinback, slightly worn, very fine condition; a nice example.

History


The Cross was originally founded by Grand Duke Friedrich Franz II and was conferred upon military personnel, regardless of rank, for demonstrating bravery during specific military campaigns and wars.

The Type IX Cross was conferred to reward meritorious service rendered during the First World War.
