History

The Decoration was founded by Kaiser and King of Prussa, Wilhelm and was awarded in recognition of 25 years of meritorious and virtuous service within the Prussian fire service. It was also conferred in recognition of acts of merit beyond the call of duty within the fire service.

The Decoration fell into disuse following the fall of the Prussia monarchy in 1918. However, it was reinstated in 1926 by the Prussian State Ministry. This version was followed by an updated version in 1933.
