The Kaluga Medal was founded to commemorate the 24th anniversary of King Friedrich Wilhelm IV becoming the patron of the 3rd Grenadiers, Pernovsky Regiment.

The obverse and reverse feature Russian inscriptions.

The obverse inscription translates to "In Remembrance", and the reverse inscription translates to "1818-20 June -1843 Tsaroe Tskelo Berlin".
