Physical Description


A rectangular pebbled clasp with a raised smooth double edge, constructed of silver. The obverse features the monogram ‘B.H.Z.S.M.’ (Bernhard Herzog zu Sachsen-Meiningen). The reverse features a horizontal pinback. On a ribbon bar.

History


The Military Long Service Decoration was jointly instituted on August 31, 1913 in the duchies of Saxe-Altenburg, Saxe-Meiningen, and Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.

The decoration was conferred upon non-commissioned officers and enlisted men of the 8th Thuringian Infantry Regiment No. 153 and the 6th Thuringian Infantry Regiment No. 95 who rendered numerous years of distinguished service.

The II Class Bar for 16 Years was conferred upon non-commissioned officers and enlisted men.

The decorations were no longer awarded after Saxe-Meiningen joined the North-German Confederation in 1867.
