The cross is bronze, 34mm across. The arms of the cross end in a double curve. On the obverse a central shield is edged by a wreath of laurel (left) and oak (right) leaves tied with a double bow at the bottom with a crown above and the initials AR in the centre. The reverse is similar but with 1849 in the centre.
This cross was founded by King Albert to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Battle of Dybbøl on April 13, 1849.
The cross was conferred upon all the Military personnel and doctors that had demonstrated merit while serving in Saxony's Military units throughout the 1849 campaign.
