History

The Decoration for Domestic Servants and Labour was founded on October 20, 1896, by Prince Carl Günther of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen. The Silver Cross was conferred upon female domestic servants and labourers who rendered 40 years of irreproachable and uninterrupted service with the same employer. Individuals who served in the Prince’s household were eligible to receive the award after 25 years of irreproachable service.
