History

The establishment of this Medal was announced in October 1939, and was to be conferred in commemoration of the German victory in the Second World War.

The Germans lost the war and this medal was never issued. There are however, a few minted examples of the medal.

There were several different issue dates anticipated, and as such there are three distinct versions of the medal, "1939," "1939-1940," and "1939-1941."

The reverse inscription translates to, "To the Fighters for German Freedom."
