History

The Warsaw Shield was founded on August 1, 1944, and was conferred upon members of the Armed Forces and non-military personnel who helped suppress the rebellion of the Polish Home Army, which occurred from August 1, 1944, to August 2, 1944.

The design of the badge was approved and the dies created, but they were subsequently destroyed during an air raid and no badges were ever produced. Some matrices survived the war, but very few copies exist. As such, it is impossible to authenticate Warsaw Shields currently on the market.
