History

During the Second World War, some members of the Hitler Youth served as war auxiliaries alongside anti-aircraft units of the Luftwaffe. They were colloquially known as Flak Helpers.

The Flak Helpers, mostly recruited from members of the Flieger-HJ, wore the standard caps until 1943, when their own specific uniforms were introduced.

The cap was a blue-grey wool visor cap with a double-fold turn-up and a single button front. The insignia featured on the cap may include the HJ diamond, in metal or cloth, and the Luftwaffe eagle emblem, either with or without a rosette trapezoid.
