History

Members of the Naval HJ wore a blue cap ribbon around the cap band of their headgear. Regulations specifically prohibited bands that were longer than 115cm.

Regulations stated that the ribbon had to have white Latin letters, but silver-grey ones were commonly used as well. The letters gave information about the unit location or location and designation of the individual member. In 1938, the Latin letters were changed to Gothic letters. It is possible that in April 1940 the letters were changed to being gold-coloured, but the regulation is vague, so this cannot be verified.
