History

Non-leader ranked HJ members wore a black scarf (Halstuch), also known as neckerchief, around their necks. It was made of cotton and triangular in shape, measuring 125cm x 80cm x 80cm.

The scarf was worn underneath the lay-down collar of the shirt or tunic. At the front, it was held in place by a leather knot, also known as a woggle.

HJ leader ranks wore a necktie instead.
