History

The 22nd ‘Maria Theresa’ Division was raised in 1944 and was composed of Hungarians of German descent. The units of the division included the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd SS Kavallerie Regiments.

Foreign SS volunteers were not permitted to wear SS runes and instead, they were issued collar tabs that were unique to their division. The 22nd 'Maria Theresa' Division's collar tab features a cornflower.

The 4th Reiter-Regiment, which was later the 18th, was given permission to wear the Cornflower collar tab until November of 1943 when it became part of the 8th SS Kavallerie Division ‘Florian Geyer’.

The collar tab was machine woven.
