History

In July of 1940, the SS-Verfügungstruppe was officially renamed the Waffen-SS. Uniforms that were issued prior to this date will be included in the SS-Verfügungstruppe section.

The predecessor organisation of the Waffen-SS, the SS-Verfügungstruppe, entered the Second World War wearing the M36 uniform, and future Waffen-SS uniforms were simplifications of this standard model.

The M36 trousers are identical to the M40 trousers.

The M40 trousers were worn by members of both the Waffen-SS and the Army. These straight leg trousers were manufactured out of field-grey wool and lined with a blended white cotton-rayon fabric. The front of the trousers features a button fly and a flapless watch pocket on the right side of the fly. There is a flapless inset pocket on each leg that closes with a small glass button. The rear of the trousers features a waist adjustment strap and a flapless inset pocket on the right.
