History
The Freikorps or Bund Oberland was established during the tumultuous post-war period in 1919 in Bavaria and fought against communist uprisings.
At an unknown date, probably in the early 1930s, a commemorative badge was instituted for former members who had fought in Munich. It was manufactured first by the company of Gg. Lindner, later also by Kremhelmer, both Munich.
No further information on the institution or the statutes of the award are known.
The award is in the shape of a cross. It is silvered, but on it is a large sunwheel in black. The wheel's end parts feature the inscription "FREIKORPS" (top) "OBERLAND" (bottom) "MÜNCHEN" (left) "1. MAI 1919" (right). The centre features three ancient nordic runes. In between the cross arms are two crossed swords in silver with the blades facing downwards. The reverse features a pinback.
