History
The Eastern Front Cross was instituted by a veterans’ association in Saxony and was conferred upon German soldiers who served on the Eastern Front during the First World War.
The Cross was unofficial and veterans were required to purchase the cross themselves.
The obverse inscription translates to "For the honour of Germany in the East".
There were approximately 3,000 crosses awarded in total.
