History


The Medal for Physical Education and Sport was established by Ordinance on August 20, 1939. It is conferred upon individuals in recognition of exceptional performance or coaching that contributes to the development of physical education and sport in Monaco.

The Bronze Medal is awarded after a minimum of 8 years of service to physical education or sport. Promotion to a higher grade may be made after 4 additional years of service in the lower grade, although these service requirements may be waived under the most exceptional circumstances.

The Gold Medal features an obverse inscription that translates to "Louis II, Prince of Monaco, August 20, 1939," and a reverse inscription that translates to "Physical Education and Sports."
