History


The Resistance Commemorative Cross was established by Royal Decree in 1980 in commemoration of the 35th anniversary of the Liberation of the Netherlands. It is awarded to participants of the Dutch Resistance in the Second World War.

The Silver Cross features an obverse inscription that translates to "Expelling Tyranny." The first 44 awards were presented by Queen Beatrix on May 5, 1941. Approximately 15,000 have been awarded.
