History

The Fire Brigade Long Service Medal was established by the Royal Dutch Association of Firefighters (KNBV) and the Dutch Association of Fire Commanders (NVBC). It is not permitted for wear on military uniforms, however, it is permitted for wear on uniforms that are regulated by the Ministry of the Interior, including those worn by police and firefighters.

It is awarded in recognition of long and faithful service.

The VI Class Cross is the only grade that is not surmounted by a crown. It features an obverse inscription that translates to "12.5 Years Fire Service."
