The Medal for Special Merit of the Royal Dutch Society "Onze Luchtmacht" was established by the Royal Dutch Society "Onze Luchtmacht" in 1953 in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the Royal Dutch Air Force. This Society was created to foster a connection between Dutch citizens and the Air Force.

It is awarded to those who have made exceptional contributions to the Royal Dutch Air Force, the Society, or to Dutch aviation in general and is permitted for wear on military uniforms.
