The Buenos Aires Medal was authorised by King Ferdinand VII to reward the troops who taking part of the defense of the Buenos Aires city against an invading army of United Kingdom.

The Medal features an obverse inscription that translates to "Ferdinand VII King of Spain and Indias," and
reverse inscription that translates to "In Potosi, to the Valour and Courage in Buenos Aires."
