The Royal Cavalry Academy of Granada (Real Maestranza de CaballerĂ­a de Granada) was instituted in Spain by the nobility of Granada on January 12, 1686. The Armory was created as a corporation of nobility with the purpose of training the nobility of Granada in the values of traditional cavalry.

This Armory became Royal when it was related to the Spanish Crown by King Felipe II/ Philip II in 1725, and it was approved by Carlos III/Charles III in 1764.

Currently, the Armory belongs to the nobility of Granada.
