History

The Royal Spanish Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters (Orden de la Real Academia Hispano Americana de Ciencias, Artes y Letras), has its roots in the former Royal Academy of Sciences and Letters, founded in 1875; however, it was created as Hispanic American in 1909.

The academy was founded 1909 to promote cultural ties to her sister nations in Latin America.

It is currently active, and it is awarded in recognition of those who served to the conservation and development of the Spanish language.
