The Honourable East India Company's Egypt Medal, 1801 was established by the Honourable East India Company on July 31, 1802. It was awarded to all Indian troops of the Honourable East India Company Army who served under Major-General Sir David Baird and General Sir Ralph Abercromby in the Egypt Campaign of 1801.
The Silver Medal was awarded to members of the Bengal and Bombay troops.
The obverse features a Farsi inscription that translates to “This Medal has been Presented in Commemoration of the Defeat of the French Army in the Kingdom of Egypt by the Great Bravery of the Victorious Army of England.” The medal was issued unnamed, and it was typically worn on a yellow cord.
