History


The Queens Sudan Medal was instituted in March 1899. It was awarded to British, Indian, and Egyptian Forces, as well as to Native allies who participated in the reconquest of Sudan between June 1896 and September 1898. Silver Medals were awarded to British and Egyptian armies, while Bronze Medals were awarded to noncombatants.

The Bronze Medal was designed by G.W. de Saulles.

Recipients of the Queen's Medal also received the Khedive's Sudan Medal.

A Variety of different naming styles were used.
