History


The Newfoundland Volunteer War Service Medal was instituted on November 6, 1981, and awarded to volunteers from Newfoundland who served with British Imperial Forces during the Second World War and who did not qualify for the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal or another country's volunteer service medal.

The Bronze Medal may also be awarded posthumously to the next of kin.
