History

The Pingat Jasa Malaysia Medal was established by the Malaysian government in 2005 to reward members of the British and Commonwealth Armed Forces who served in operational areas in Malaysia between August 31, 1957 and December 31, 1966, or in Singapore between August 31, 1957 and August 9, 1965, during the “Confrontation” and “Emergency” conflicts. Personnel who served for 90 or more days in support of operations, or who provided 180 or more days of indirect support in operational areas, are eligible for the Medal. Service cut short by death or injury also qualified for the award. The Medal was authorized for wear for British and Commonwealth troops by Queen Elizabeth II in 2011.
