History

The Territorial Force Efficiency Medal was established by King Edward VII in 1908. The Silver Medal was awarded to members of the Territorial Force in recognition of 12 years or more of service. Service during war counted as double. The Medal was superseded with the introduction of the Territorial Efficiency Medal in 1921 when the service was renamed the "Territorial Army."

Clasps were awarded to denote an additional 12 years of service. Members of the Honourable Artillery Company were awarded the Medal with a distinct ribbon.

There are multiple versions of the Medal which vary by the obverse effigy of the reigning monarch at the time of issue.
