History

The United Nations Korea Medal was instituted created by the United Nations as an international award on December 12, 1950. The United Nations Korea Medal, issued by Britain, was awarded to all British and Commonwealth personnel who served with the UN forces for one day or more in Korea or in support units in Japan during the Korea War between 1950 and 1953.

The Bronze Medal was generally issued unnamed to British and Commonwealth personnel, except for Canadian, Australian, and South African recipients.
