The George Prince of Wales Medal was instituted in 1905 to commemorate the royal visit to India. The Medal was awarded in Gold and Silver. The Gold Medal was presented by Their Royal Highnesses to personal staff while the Silver Medal was presented to all hands aboard HMS Renown, HMS Terrible, and the Royal Yacht Osborne between 1905 and 1906.
