History

The Anglo-Boere Oorlog (War) Medal was awarded by the Union of South Africa to Officers and men of the former Boer republics, Orange Free State and Transvaal, for faithful service in the war against the British. To qualify for the award, recipients had to prove that they fought against the British and did not take parole, the oath of allegiance or surrender prior to May 31, 1902.

The Silver Medal features a depiction of the Orange Free State arms and the Transvaal on either side. The Medal does not feature an obverse or reverse side but is rather worn by the recipient with the appropriate arms showing.
