History

The Queen's Medal for Champion Shots of the Royal Air Force was instituted by Queen Elizabeth by Royal Warrant on June 12, 1953. The Silver Medal is awarded annually to the champion shot of the Royal Air Force small arms meeting and the Royal New Zealand Airforce.

The Medal is issued with a clasp inscribed with the date of the award. Additional clasps are awarded to denote subsequent awards. A silver rosette may be worn on the ribbon when the ribbon is worn alone.
