History

The RSPCA Queen Victoria Medal was instituted in 1875. The Medal was awarded to personnel who have made a significant contribution to the RSPCA, which was established in 1837 and supported by Queen Victoria.

Of interesting note, Queen Victoria designed a cat to be included in the design.

There may be additional versions of the Medal which vary by composition, but more research is needed.
