History

The Condor Legion was a German military unit that fought alongside the Spanish nationalists in the Spanish Civil War of 1936 to 1939. It became known mainly for its air force detachment that used the conflict to develop new bombing tactics. These were then widely used during the Second World War.

The ground unit was known as Gruppe Imker (Group Beekeeper), and the Panzer units of Gruppe Imker were known as Gruppe Drohne (Group Drone).

Since the Germans were not supposed to be identified as such, they didn’t use any flags throughout the entire war. Exceptions to this rule were the car pennants.

The pennant for the Commander-in-Chief is rectangular and diagonally divided into triangles, with two triangles in red, left and right, and two in yellow, top and bottom. On the top one is the word “Legion” and on the bottom one the word “Condor”, both in black Latin letters.
