History

As early as 1934, “Litzen” (bars) were worn on the lower left sleeve of sports uniforms to indicate rank.

All ranks from Kameradschaftsführer to Oberbannführer originally wore the “Litzen” in the Oberbann colours. This was changed to red in February 1936, when the Oberbann area structure was discontinued.

Scharführer wore two horizontal bars. So did Jungzugführer in the DJ and Mädel-/Jungmädelscharführerinnen in the BDM.
