History

The so-called Swallow’s Nests are cloth insignia to be worn on the upper arms, just below the shoulders. They were worn by the musicians of the HJ, but only when they were performing. Swallow’s Nests were introduced on September 15, 1933.

The Swallow’s Nests of Leaders of a Drum and Bugle Corps have a base cloth in artillery red. The facing consists of white wool tress. The lining is in brown twill. Additionally, they have a white wool fringe.
