History

The SS Service Breeches, or SS-Stiefelhose, were manufactured in black twill or gabardine for Officers, and black cloth or corduroy for Non-Commissioned Officers and Enlisted Men (NCO/EM).

In the original German, these pants are referred to as Stiefelhose (boot trousers) rather than breeches, as they have less pronounced side flares than standard riding breeches.

The breeches fit loosely above the knee and taper below it. To assure a snug fit around the calves, there is a slash from the wearer's knee to the ankle that is closed with a lace and buttons. There is slash pocket on each hip and a small inset watch pocket on the right side of the fly. There are two back pockets and an adjustment strap on the reverse waistline. The front and back pockets have small black plastic buttons.
