History

The 1st Model of the Combined Pilot/Observer Badge, also known as the Aircrew Badge, was instituted in 1933 by the German Air Sports Association, which was established by the Nazi Party as a cover organisation for the future Luftwaffe. The badge was conferred upon civilians who passed the air training test and became qualified members of the Association. The award was the first qualification badge recognised by the Luftwaffe.

The badge was replaced in 1936 by the Combined Pilot/Observer Badge. The Aircrew Badge is very rare.
