History


The Luftwaffe Close Combat Clasp was founded by Hermann Göring on November 3, 1944, and was conferred upon Luftwaffe ground personnel who bravery engaged in hand-to-hand combat with the enemy.

The Silver Grade Clasp was conferred upon Luftwaffe personnel who rendered at least 30 days of service in close combat conditions. The minimum number of days was reduced to 20 if the recipient had been wounded in battle.
