History

The award was instituted at an unknown date by General Fr. Christiansen.

The plaque is rectangular and shows a copper-coloured Luftwaffe eagle with swastika facing to the viewer's right. Underneath the inscription reads: for outstanding merits / the Wehrmacht commander of the Netherlands, followed by Christiansens facsimile signature. The milled letters are blackened, as is a small border approximately 4mm from the edges.

The German title of this award is "Ehrenplakette des Wehrmachtbefehlshabers in den Niederlanden".
