History

The Decoration was awarded to the Nurses and Matrons of the German Red Cross in recognition of long and faithful service.

There were two models of the decoration. The Model I decorations feature a red cross in the obverse medallion, while the Model II decorations feature a German eagle holding a red cross in its talons in the obverse medallion.

The IV Class Silver Cross was awarded for 10 years of long service as a Nurse.
