History

The SS Female Helper Clasp was instituted by Heinrich Himmler in 1943 and it was conferred upon female members of the SS (S.S. Helferinnen) for faithful service. The award may have also been conferred as a reward for exceptional diligence and devotion to duty.

SS Helferinnen strictly refers to female personnel who were trained at the Reichsschule-SS in Oberenheim/Alsace and were then incorporated into the SS Helferinnenkorps. The SS began to recruit women in 1942, as a means to relieve male personnel who were needed on the front.

The reverse of the clasp features a silver hallmark.
