History

This Police Mountain Guard Executive Badge was likely instituted in around 1942 and was conferred upon personnel of the Auxiliary Mountain Rescue Service. The force was responsible for help and rescue missions in the Alps and surrounding areas. In 1939, the force was also tasked with nature conservation. In around 1944, the force became a military unit.
