Physical Description


A circular medal constructed of gold. The obverse bears the image of a crowned eagle with the letter "F" on its chest. The reverse bears the inscription "FRANKFURTS STREITERN IM BUNDE 1815" (to Frankfurt's fighters of the league) within a wreath of palm and laurel. On a loop for suspension, with a red and white striped ribbon.

History


The Frankfurt Waterloo Medal was instituted by the Senate of the Free City of Frankfurt on January 30, 1816. The medal was conferred upon Officers and Enlisted Men who rendered distinguished service throughout the Frankfurt Region during the Liberation Wars.

Only one Gold Medal was ever awarded.
