Physical Description


A finely pebbled rectangular clasp with a raised smooth border, constructed of silver. The obverse features the smooth and raised Roman numeral ‘VIII’. The reverse features a horizontal pinback. On a ribbon bar, on a ribbon of equal parts blue, white, and red (from left to right).

History


The Military Long Service Decorations for non-commissioned officers were introduced on November 17, 1849 by the provisional government of Schleswig-Holstein. They were conferred upon military personnel who rendered long and faithful service.

The Silver Bar for 8 Years was conferred upon non-commissioned officers.

The bar was displayed on a ribbon.
