The Medal for Meritorious Acts was instituted by Sultan Hussein Kamil in 1917. The Medal is awarded in 3 grades to men and women of any nationality in recognition of meritorious service to the King, State, or Society. Acts of courage, life-saving, as well as long service, may also be eligible for the award.

The Bronze Medal is awarded as the III Class award.

The date and service recognized by the award is engraved on the suspension bar.

Subsequent awards are denoted by the addition of a clasp worn on the ribbon.
