History

The Order of Sports was established by Governmental Law in 1954. The Order is conferred upon individuals in recognition of outstanding service to the Nation in the fields of sport. Qualifying service includes the outstanding athletic performance by Egyptian nationals or the training of sportsmen and women who have successfully represented Egypt in international arenas.

Foreigners who have aided in the development of athletic standards in the United Arab Republic may also be eligible for the award. The Order is presented in 3 Classes. The Order may also have 3 associated medals, but research is needed.

The I Class is worn from a neck ribbon and features an obverse Arabic inscription which translates to “Sports.”

The I Class also features an engraving of the recipient’s name on the reverse.
