History

The Order of Trade and Industry was instituted by King Fouad I on November 21, 1932. The Order may also be referred to as the Order of Industry and Commerce and was created to reward meritorious contributions made towards Egyptian industrial efforts as well as achievements in business. The Order is awarded in 3 Classes.

The Knight is presented as the III Class award.

The Knight features an obverse Arabic inscription which translates to "Order of Trade and Industry."

There are 2 separate versions of the III Class Knight which differ by design according to the institution date. The first version was established during the regime of the Kingdom of Egypt and features a surmounting medical motif. The later version was instituted following the establishment of the Republic of Egypt in 1954 which overthrew the Kingdom and replaces the medical motif with an Egyptian eagle.
